Les Orres has convenience uppermost, so
it’s never more than a short walk to everything you may need.
Everywhere seems central yet close to the slopes! The village is at
the centre of a large, snowy amphitheatre, surrounded by snow-sure,
north-facing slopes of all degrees of difficulty. Most of the
beginner runs occupy the village third of the system but there are
wide, gentle blues at all levels giving plenty of interest for
inexperienced skiers. Many nursery slopes are at altitude, which
makes sense really, because beginners need the good conditions most.
The well-designed lift system means keen learners can progress
smoothly from blues to reds and access the whole mountain. Another
feature is the high number of scenic runs, swooping entertainingly
through the forest which provides good shelter in bad weather.
This purpose-built resort, high on a sunny plateau, is a real undiscovered gem. It has quite high mileage and a surprisingly varied range of skiing with something for everybody. Beginners up to strong intermediates are particularly well suited, which after all, covers the bulk of the ski fraternity. |
