| Leysin is linked with
the ski areas of Villars and Les Diablerets. Combined they offer an
impressive 125 kilometres of piste, including the Diablerets
Glacier, Glacier 3000, which guarantees snow for the area. Originally an agricultural village Leysin is located high on a sunny plateau and is now a wellappointed modern ski resort. The village has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and you will find that there are as many locals as tourists on the slopes, which makes a nice change from many European resorts. There are two main ski areas local to Leysin - Mayern and Berneuse, both accessible by the lifts at the lower end of the village, where the ski school office is located. A smaller area, Solacyre is located at the other end of the village. The nursery slopes are easily accessible from the village on foot. The slopes are mainly a mixture of blues and reds but there is some challenging skiing to be found for those in the know and on the glacier. |
